The Cementerio.com user guide: everything you can do, explained without hurry. Tap a question to open it or search for what you need.
Getting started
What Cementerio.com is and what you can do with or without an account.
What is Cementerio.com?
A digital cemetery, public and free: a memory garden where each remembered person has their own memorial, with their name, their dates and a photo. You can visit it from any phone or computer, at any hour and from anywhere in the world.
It is a project of SerQuerido (Ser Querido SpA).
What can I do without an account?
- Explore the garden and look for a person by name.
- Visit any published memorial and share it.
- Read the articles.
And with an account?
- Create memorials and change their photo.
- Leave flowers on memorials.
- Invite other people, and invite your family to care for a memorial with you.
- See your memorials, your flowers and the people you invited in “My account”.
What does each button on the bottom bar do?
The floating bar, at the bottom center, is on every page:
- Magnifier: search by name among the memorials in the garden.
- Map: shows the garden from above so you can go straight to a portal.
- + (center): creates a memorial.
- 🌼 Daisy: appears inside a memorial and takes you to leave it a flower.
- Menu: home page, “My account” (or sign in with your email), flower plans, articles, this help page, terms and conditions, search and create a memorial; at the bottom, sharing buttons and, outside the garden, the color theme. Inside the garden, at the top, you will find the visual quality, full screen (on computers) and the icons for the other color themes.
- Sign in or sign out icon: starts or ends your session.
Exploring the garden
The front page is a garden where each memorial is a portal.
How do I move around the garden?
- On your phone: move the green joystick to walk and slide your finger over the garden to look around.
- On your computer: walk with W, A, S, D or the arrow keys (the side ones turn), drag with the mouse to look around and press Enter to open the portal near you.
Which memorials appear in the garden?
The 100 memorials that have received the most flowers. Any other published memorial can be reached through its address (cementerio.com/name-of-the-person), through a link someone shares with you or by searching for it on Google.
How do I find a person?
Tap the magnifier and type their name: it searches among the memorials in the garden. Tapping a name opens their card; with the arrow next to it, the garden takes you in front of their portal. With the map you see all the portals from above and can jump to any of them.
What happens when I tap a portal?
Their card opens: name, dates, flowers and visits. From there you can go to their memorial (“Visit their memorial”) or share it (“Share their memory”: it opens your device's share menu or, if it has none, copies the link). Opening the card does not add a visit; entering the memorial does.
The garden looks slow, or I want to see it bigger
In the garden menu you can change the visual quality: on phones it starts at “Light” and on computers at “High”; if the garden is slow, try “Light”. You can also turn on full screen (the button next to the visual quality) or go to the home page if you got lost.
Visiting a memorial
Each memorial has its own address: cementerio.com/name-of-the-person.
What does a memorial show?
A phrase that remembers the person, their photo, their name, the dates of birth (with a rising sun) and of death (with a setting sun) when they are known, and two counters: 🌼 the flowers they have received and 👁 the visits.
How do I share a memorial?
At the bottom of each memorial there are buttons for WhatsApp, Facebook, X and LinkedIn, one to copy the link and one for Instagram (it copies the text and opens Instagram so you can paste it). If you have an account, the “Share this memorial” block also gives you a link with your invitation: whoever opens an account from it becomes someone you invited (see Inviting).
How are visits counted?
Once a day per person: reloading the page or opening it in another tab does not add another visit; coming back the next day does. Looking at their card in the garden does not count.
Your account
No passwords: you sign in with a code sent to your email.
How do I sign in?
- Tap the sign-in icon, on the right of the bar (or “Sign in with my email” in the menu), and type your email.
- We send you a 6-digit code. It is valid for 60 minutes and allows 5 attempts.
- Type it and you are in. If it is your first time, your account is created at that moment.
The code does not arrive
Wait a couple of minutes and check your spam or promotions folder. If it does not show up, tap “Resend code”: it becomes available after 30 seconds. Also check that your email is spelled correctly. For security, each email can request up to 10 codes a day from the same connection, and after many failed attempts from it you have to wait an hour.
What information does my profile ask for?
After each sign-in you will see your profile. Your email and your Alias Id (a short, unique code, like “k7m2”) are read-only. You can edit your name (required) and your phone number (optional). Save, or continue without changes.
How do others see me?
You choose: with your name or with your Alias Id. You can change it under “How others see you”, in your profile. Your email is never shown to anyone.
What is in “My account”?
It is in the menu, once you are signed in.
- Your profile and, if someone invited you, who it was.
- Your Founder badge, if you have one.
- “Your memorials”: the ones you created and the ones you care for, with their status.
- Your flowers and your invitation link, with how many people joined thanks to you.
What is the Founder badge?
The first accounts on the site, and every account created during the launch period, receive a Founder number, in order of arrival (“Founder no. 12”). When paid plans open, founders who have at least one published memorial with at least one flower will receive double what each plan offers, for life, as long as they do not interrupt their subscription.
How do I sign out?
With the exit icon, on the right of the bar. If you do not sign out, your session stays open for 7 days from when you signed in; after that we ask you for a new code.
Creating a memorial
It is free. You need to have signed in with your email.
How do I create a memorial?
- Tap the “+” on the bar. If you have not signed in, it will first ask for your email.
- Type the person's full name (required).
- Add the dates you know: the year is enough, or year and month.
- If you like, choose a photo.
- Tap “Create memorial”. It goes into review and we let you know by email when it is published.
What photo can I upload?
JPG, PNG or WebP, just as it comes from your phone: we adjust it automatically and remove the location data before uploading it. If your browser cannot read it (this happens with some iPhone HEIC photos in Chrome), convert it to JPG or take a screenshot of the photo.
Why is my memorial “under review”?
All memorials go through a review before becoming public. In the meantime, only you (and the team) can see it, marked “Under review”, and you can add or change its photo (“Add or change the photo” button). When it is published, you receive an email. That day, we also give you a flower.
What will its web address be?
It is built from the name: “María Pérez” becomes cementerio.com/maria-perez. If a memorial with that name already exists, the year of birth is added (maria-perez-1943) and, if that is also taken, the year of death. If you did not enter those years, we will ask for them to tell it apart.
Can I change the photo later?
Yes. In the memorial, tap “Edit memorial” (while it is under review, the button is called “Add or change the photo”). Whoever created it can also do this while it is under review; those who care for it, only once it is published (see Caring as a family). That same screen lets you correct the name and the dates; the memorial's link does not change, and every change is recorded and the team is notified.
Is there a limit on memorials?
You can have up to 5 memorials waiting for review at the same time and create up to 10 per hour. This protects the review from spam.
Flowers
A flower is a way of saying “I remember you”. It shows in each memorial's counter.
How do I get flowers?
During the launch period, until January 1, 2027, flowers are given away:
- One for each of your memorials that is published.
- One when someone you invited publishes their first memorial (and another for that person).
- One if you open your account from a memorial, so you can leave it to them.
Your flowers stay in your balance, in “My account”, until you leave them (see also Plans).
How do I leave a flower?
- Open the memorial and tap the daisy 🌼 on the bar, or scroll down to the “Leave a flower” button.
- Tap it. The memorial's counter goes up and your balance goes down by one.
If you have not signed in, you will see “Sign in and leave a flower”: you sign in with your email and return to the memorial. Below the button you see how many flowers you have left. If you have none, the block tells you how to get more.
On which memorials can I leave them?
On any published memorial, whether it is yours or not. Flowers help a memorial appear in the garden.
What are the flower plans?
- Flor, USD 3: Una flor para dejar en el memorial que elijas.
- Guardián de la Memoria, USD 12: 12 flores para repartir durante un año en los memoriales que elijas.
In Plans you can see them and mark which one interests you.
Inviting
Cementerio.com grows by word of mouth: every invitation counts.
How do I invite someone?
There are two ways:
- Your personal link (cementerio.com/i/your-alias), in “My account” → “Invite friends”.
- A memorial, from “Share this memorial”: it is the most natural way, because the person arrives straight at the memory you shared with them.
Whoever opens an account from one of those links is registered as someone you invited.
What do we get for inviting?
When the person you invited publishes their first memorial, you both receive a flower, and we let you know by email. You can earn up to 10 flowers from invitations every 30 days.
Where do I see who I invited?
In “My account”, under your link: how many people joined, how many have already published their memorial and how many flowers you earned. If someone invited you, you will see “Invited by” in your profile.
When does an invitation count?
Only when the person creates a new account from your link, from a memorial you shared or from a link to care for a memorial of yours. An account that already existed is not attributed, and if someone opens links from two different people, the first one counts. For security, flowers for opening an account from a memorial are capped at 3 per connection every 24 hours.
Caring as a family
A memorial is better cared for by several people.
What does it mean to care for a memorial?
Whoever created a memorial can invite their family to care for it. Those who care for it can change its photo, its name and its dates, just like whoever created it. A memorial allows up to 20 people to care for it.
How do I invite my family?
- Open your memorial (already published) and tap “Edit memorial”.
- Under “Caring as a family”, tap “Create a link to invite the family”.
- Copy it or share it. It is valid for 30 days and works for 10 people.
I was invited to care for a memorial
Open the link. If you are already signed in, tap “Accept and care for this memorial”. If not, tap “Sign in with my email to accept”, sign in and accept when you return. If you did not have an account, it is created at that moment and we give you a flower so you can leave it for them.
Can I remove someone or stop caring?
Whoever created the memorial can remove anyone with “Remove” and cancel all the memorial's active links with “Cancel the links I already shared” (those who already care for it keep doing so). Whoever cares for it can stop from “Edit memorial” → “Stop caring for it”.
Articles and preferences
Readings to accompany grief, and site settings.
What are the articles?
Guides and texts to accompany memory and grief. They are in the menu, under Read articles, and each one can be shared at the end.
Can I use dark mode?
Yes. In the menu choose between light, dark and whatever your device uses; inside the garden they are the icons next to the visual quality (when you hover over them they say which is which).
Is it available in other languages?
Yes: Spanish, English, Portuguese and Italian. Change the language from the options menu or at the bottom of the page, and choose your preferred language in «My account». Names and texts written by people are not translated, articles are in Spanish, and the legal texts are binding in their Spanish version (with a button to read them translated by Google).
Privacy and security
What is shown and what is not.
Are memorials public?
Yes. A published memorial can be seen by anyone and appears in search engines such as Google. While it is under review, only whoever created it and the team can see it.
Who can see my email?
No one but the Cementerio.com team. We use it so you can sign in and to let you know when one of your memorials is published or when you earn a flower for inviting. The details are in the privacy policy.
What should I be careful about with family links?
Share them only with your family: anyone with the link can join to care for the memorial while it is valid. If one was shared more widely than intended, cancel them under “Caring as a family” with “Cancel the links I already shared” (this cancels all the memorial's active links).
How do I get in touch with Cementerio.com?
Write to us at info @ serquerido.com (without the spaces) if the code does not arrive, if you want to correct or remove a memorial, about a payment or about your personal data. More detail in Contact.
The site's rules are in the terms and conditions, the privacy policy and the refund policy.
